Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Mescitbul mobile application (the "app", the "service"). By downloading the app, creating an account, or starting to use it as a guest, you are deemed to have accepted these Terms. If you do not accept them, you should not use the app.

Details of how your personal data is processed are outside the scope of this document; for that, see our separately published Privacy Policy.

Mescitbul is a free mobile app that helps users find mosques and prayer spaces (any place where prayer is possible), determine the qibla direction, track missed prayers, and view prayer times based on their location.

The app relies on data from the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), OpenStreetMap community data, and user contributions; the information provided is therefore a practical guide and is not guaranteed to be exact or complete.

You can use the app by signing in with your Google account, or in "guest" mode without creating an account. When you sign in with Google, you are responsible for the accuracy and currency of the information you provide.

Mescitbul does not knowingly intend to offer account creation to children under the age of 13; if you are in this age group, you should use the app under a parent/guardian's supervision.

You are responsible for the security of your account (protecting access to your device and Google account). You can permanently delete your account at any time from the Settings screen or via the Delete Account page on this site.

Through the app, you can suggest new mosques/prayer spaces, edit existing records, upload photos, report issues, and verify records ("Contribution"). You represent that your Contributions are accurate, current, and not misleading; you also represent that you hold the right to use any photos you upload, and that they do not infringe third parties' copyright or personality rights.

When you submit a Contribution, you grant Mescitbul a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display, edit, store, and (after passing moderator review) publish that content within the app. This license does not remove your ownership of the content.

Contributions you submit go through moderator review before publication. Mescitbul reserves the right not to publish, to edit, or to later remove any Contribution it finds to violate the rules, to be inaccurate, abusive, or inappropriate.

When using the app, you agree not to: knowingly enter false or misleading mosque/prayer-space information; upload photos that belong to someone else, are copyrighted, or are inappropriate; harass other users or share content containing hate speech or insults; reverse-engineer the app or its servers, or scrape or overload them with automated tools (bots/scraping); misuse or attempt to circumvent account verification, location, or moderation systems; or use the service for any purpose contrary to applicable law.

If conduct in violation of these rules is detected, the relevant Contribution may be removed and/or your account may be suspended or terminated under Section 10.

The app's source code, design, interface, logo, and the "Mescitbul" name belong to Mescitbul and are protected under Turkey's Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works No. 5846 and trademark legislation. These Terms grant you only a right to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes; no other right is transferred.

Prayer times and verse/hadith/dua content belong to the Republic of Türkiye Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı); some of the mosque/prayer-space location data belongs to © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL license). Attributions for these sources appear in the Settings → About screen.

The app uses third-party services such as Google (sign-in and optional Drive backup), Firebase (analytics), Cloudinary (photo hosting), and the Presidency of Religious Affairs — Awqat Salah API (prayer time/content data). These services' own terms of use and privacy policies also apply; Mescitbul does not guarantee the uninterrupted operation of these third-party services.

While all religious and technical information in the app (prayer times, qibla direction, mosque/prayer-space locations, missed-prayer calculations, etc.) has been prepared with great care, it should be kept in mind that systems relying on software, sensors (compass, location), and user contributions may have technical issues or a margin of error.

The app's output is a practical guide, does not replace a definitive religious authority, and the accuracy of mosque/prayer-space information is not guaranteed. Responsibility for observing prayer times ultimately rests with the user; for sensitive matters of religious jurisprudence, we recommend consulting a religious official you trust or the relevant authorities of the Diyanet. This disclaimer applies together with the "Disclaimer Statement" separately shown on the app's first launch.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available"; no warranty, express or implied, is given that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Mescitbul shall not be liable for any direct or indirect damages arising from the use or inability to use the app, incorrect mosque/prayer-space information, a delayed or missed notification, or disruptions in third-party services.

This limitation does not remove Mescitbul's liability arising from intent or gross negligence, or your inalienable consumer rights under Turkey's Law on the Protection of Consumers No. 6502.

Mescitbul reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate, without prior notice, any account it determines to be in violation of these Terms.

You can permanently delete your own account at any time via Settings → Profile → Delete Account, or via the Delete Account page on this site; this action cannot be undone, and data linked to your account is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

Mescitbul reserves the right to modify, update, or temporarily or permanently discontinue all or part of the app without prior notice. No commitment is made that the service will be provided uninterrupted or within a specific timeframe.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. For disputes that may arise from these Terms, consumer arbitration committees/consumer courts with jurisdiction under applicable consumer legislation apply to users with consumer status; in other cases, the competent Turkish courts and enforcement offices have jurisdiction.

These Terms may be updated in line with changes to the app or legal requirements. You will be notified from within the app of any material changes; the current version is always available on this screen. Continuing to use the app after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
